Lomba da Fazenda - São Miguel PRC31 SMI
Trail Info
This small circular route in Lomba da Fazenda, Nordeste, begins at the garden, near the church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, passing several points of interest of this municipality.
Follow the road, turning left towards the Camping Place. At the end, cross Ribeira do Guilherme and see some old watermills, as well as a 1982 fountain. Continue the trail, now in an ascending sense, through a Japanese cedar wood (Cryptomeria japonica), Australian Cheesewood (Pittosporum undulatum) and Australian Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon). At the end, it is possible to make a small detour to the right to visit Nordeste village, otherwise, go down to the bathing area of Boca da Ribeira.
Go up the cliff on a dirt road that goes through agricultural fields and pastures, until the shoreline. Follow the marks, cross the stream and you will arrive to the Parque das Endémicas do Pelado, whose name comes from the dry land and endemic vegetation of low height, duly identified along the park.
Proceed along the coast, passing by a detour to a small harbor, once used to unload supplies. Ensue the marks until you find a tar road to Lomba da Fazenda. Before the end, there is a detour on your right, to Parque da Morgada, place of picnics and where you can see some old sinks for washing clothes. Profit to explore this park and return until you reach the initial point, near the church, where the trail ends.
